The Ghost Chronicles by Marlo Berliner
Synopsis
Can Michael get to heaven before the devil gets him first, and if it means leaving Sarah is he sure he still wants to go?
Michael Andrews had everything – a loving family, a great girlfriend and a promising basketball career. That was before the accident that took his life. Now, he’s a ghost, wandering among the living, struggling to understand why he’s stuck. All he wants is to move on.
That is until he meets Sarah, an attractive young girl who died just as tragically as he did. The only trouble is falling in love and binding oneself to another soul is forbidden, for it may keep one or both of the souls bound to earth for longer than they should be.
To make matters worse, there’s also a danger in going too far with Sarah, because the “joining” of two souls in the afterlife is also strictly forbidden and they don’t know what will happen if they do go that far. Each time they touch they can feel the boundaries of their energies slipping perilously into one another.
Things get even more complicated as Michael learns he’s being pursued. Demons are after him because he’s a marked soul, a soul the devil wants very badly for some unknown reason.
So, maybe falling in love in the afterlife isn’t such a good idea.

My Review
Wow! I was not expecting to enjoy this book quite as much as I did. I get a lot of books for review. Most of them wind up being just ok or books that I have to force myself to read. Sometimes I even have to DNF the book. This was definitely not the case with The Ghost Chronicles. I thought this was going to be your average ghost haunts a house type of story. It was so much more than that! The main character of the book is actually the ghost himself.
There are so many interesting elements to this story. Every moment was something new and exciting. It was a fantastic ghostly adventure! You will get immersed in the spirit side of this world. I was never once bored while reading this book. It held my interest the entire way through. If I had had the time I easily could have read this in one sitting. I actually wanted to! The paranormal elements in this book were spectacular and spot on. There is just so much interesting things to look forward to in this story. Marlo did an absolute fantastic job with this story. She managed to pack so much into one book and make it all fit perfectly. There is so much going on and so much to think on. This would make a fantastic book club read. There are so many discussions to be had after reading this book. I could write on for hours about everything that I enjoyed and the way I felt about this book. Doing so would only give away the entire story and spoil it for others so I will hold back. This book deserves all the accolades and recognition it has received and may receive in the future. Make sue to read it now before everyone is talking about it. I feel like soon you will see the entire booktube community talking about this one. I am so VERY stoked for the next book to come out…and even more excited that I don’t have to wait too long. August people! Get to reading this one asap.
One of the things that I found out while reading this book is that the illustration on the front of the book is an actual Bed and Breakfast that is located in Cape May, New Jersey. It is called The Angel of the Sea. I don’t want to give to much of the story away….but lets just say that the building is a big part of the book, and that it it may be haunted in the book as well as in real life. You can read more about the real Angel of The Sea by visiting the website HERE. I am lucky enough to live in Pennsylvania and this Bed and Breakfast is only and hour and fourty minute drive from me. (Yes, I did the research. I REALLY want to go stay at this place after reading all about it) Me and my Husband are way overdue for a romantic little getaway. This seems like the perfect spot!
I am so happy that I came across this little gem of a book in my reviewing journey. If I was not a book reviewer, I don’t think I would have had the pleasure of reading this book and planning my next getaway…or I should say my first getaway since my Husband and I have been married for 16 years and have never gone on a vacation. I think this a great place to start. Hey! Who knows, maybe I will even make The Angel of The Sea a sort of writing retreat for myself. I think it would be the absolute perfect place for me to get away and finish writing my paranormal novel. I can’t think of any better place. This story and building now hold so much importance to me now. I feel as if I was meant to read this book. I think it might be the key to the inspiration and fuel that I needed to finally finish writing my own book. If I do end up using The Angel of the Sea to get away and finish writing my book I will be sure to take a ton of pictures for all of you. 🙂 I am getting off track and rambling here. This is supposed to be a book review and I have turned it into something else. I can’t help it, I just feel very passionate about this book and location for some reason.
I love when I find a new author who becomes a new favorite. It gives me more release dates to be excited about. After reading this book I would read anything that Marlo writes. I am now a permanent fan.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, supernatural read without being totally scared out of your mind. This one is a fun, entertaining, sweet, and enjoyable read. It has humor, romance, and adventure, with an easy-to-follow storyline that will hold you captive.
