I hate to write a bad review. It’s not something that I enjoy to do AT ALL! If I don’t like a book I will usually just not review it but the author wanted me to write a review whether I enjoyed it I or not.
First of all, I honestly don’t think people who are reviewing this book on amazon are being fair or honest. You can’t help an author grow or get better by just saying what you think they want to hear. Either that or people have not read many books to know what makes for a good story. I promised ah HONEST review so that is what I plan to give.
The story had a good idea and I could see where the author was going with it, but unfortunately it didn’t hold my interest or keep me captivated enough to continue on to see where it went. I did not finish this book. I gave it as much as I could but I just couldn’t go on. I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. They all just seemed whiny and complained a lot. I couldn’t take the teen slang. It was a huge turn-off for me.There were multiple narrators. Every paragraph was being told by someone else in the story and it just made it hard to keep up and very confusing. I felt like the story was rushed and the chapters all ran right into each other. I would get to the end of a page and the next chapter would start (what felt like right in the middle of a thought) without any kind of end. The missing connection to this story is not because I am in my 30’s. I enjoy to read YA novels. Actually, it’s quite a guilty pleasure of mine.
Shame on the person who helped this young lady edit her book. I feel like the author was given NO feedback on her story. This could be a fun upbeat teen story with some humour and dram but it still needs a LOT of work.
Thanks for sharing an honest review – not many book bloggers do.
Thank you Jade! I appreciate that so much. Your comment made my day. After being told I was too harsh by the author I started feeling bad about writing it I wrote it so others don’t buy a book others are claiming to be excellent and are disappointed when they start reading. It’s not right to say a book is good if it isn’t. I am always going to give my honest opinion to stay true to readers.
