Hello bookaholics! I am so very excited to announce to all of you that I have decided to start a special month long Summer round of Alphabethon! For all of you who have been busy in school and weren’t able to participate during the school year, now is your chance. 🙂
Since this is a special Summer round of Alphabethon, it will go a little differently then the regular week-long Alphabethon rounds. The first round will take place the entire month of July 2018.Â
Here Is How It Works:
For this 1st round of the Summer Alphabethon we are going to try to read the Alphabet! There are 26 letters in the Alphabet and 31 days in July so this is doable if you read a book a day. You would even have a couple days left to spare. You don’t have to read the entire alphabet, just have fun trying to see how far you can get. We are doing TITLES ONLY for this round. Author first/last names do NOT count for reading the alphabet. We are starting with the first letter of the Alphabet and making our way through to the last letter of the Alphabet. For example: July 1st – you would read a book with a title that begins with A, when you finish that book you would move on to read a book with a title that begins with B, so on and so forth until you complete the alphabet or August 1st comes upon us. There is no skipping around. Work your way through A-Z. Let’s save that for other Summer rounds.Â
It may be a little difficult for some of us to read 26 books in one month, but we can sure have fun trying! It is manageable though. Picking short books, comics, graphic novels, etc. may help.
There will be no challenges for Summer Round. Just trying to keep it light and easy. Reading the Alphabet in one month is quite a challenge itself.Â
There Will Be Sprints!Â
A few more people have volunteered as hosts to help out with sprints for the Summer Round. ( If you would like to volunteer as a Summer host, there is still time. ) The sprints will be sporadic throughout the days of July. When a host has free time to go on the @Alphabethon account on Twitter and host sprints they will jump on. The sprints will be sporadic throuhgout the month of July so make sure to follow the account, turn on notifications for the alphabethon page on Twitter, and make sure to check under the hashtag #alphabethon to see when sprints are happening.Â
Be sure to share pictures of what you are reading throughout the month of July on Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #alphabethon so I can see how you guys are doing and see how far you get. I love seeing all your pics! It will be a little hard to plan out your entire tbr for this round, but if you can do it I give you mad props! I would love to see a pic! As for me, I am just going to fly by the seat of my pants and pick the first book on my shelves that begins with each letter as I go.Â
