Geek Girl by Holly Smale
I had mixed feeling about this book. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. It was just ok for me.
What I liked:
I loved the character Harriet. She was cute, awkward and someone a geek like myself could relate to.
This story will resonate to all those who feel a little shy, awkward, and unsure of themselves at times. It had a bit of a cute lesson about acceptance, learning to be yourself despite what anyone thinks or says about you, and loving the little quirks that makes you, you.
Now what I didn’t like:
Ugh! Wilbur! For me, he was the most annoying character in the book. His pet names for Harriet and the way he talked drove me nuts and was a bit corny. ” It’s Wilbur with a bur not iam.” Could have used a little less of that…repetition. At times I felt like certain things that happened in the story made it feel like it should be a middle school book and not a YA book.
I will probably read the rest of the series, however, it might not be any time soon. This book didn’t leave me in a olace where I absolutely need to know whar happens next. At some point in time I will get around to reading the rest of the series though. I HAVE to finish book series once I start (unless they are complete rubbish).
