Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon
I am looking forward to cuddling up with books for 24 hours this Saturday! This is the second time that I have participated in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon but the first time that I am going all out with the planning. This time around, instead of winging it and just grabbing anything, I am making sure I have my TBR pile for the Readathon all ready to go. I may have gone a bit crazy. I know I am not going to have to read all of these but I want to keep my options open. I’m even thinking about extending this readathon to a 48 hour readathon and continuing to read all day as Sunday as well.
Meals:
Tomorrow I am getting all my meals and snacks picked out and prepared. I am thinking healthy. for the most part. Going with oatmeal for breakfast. Already bought some snacks. Apples, Celery, Peanut Butter, Hummus, and Pita Chips. The most unhealthy part of the day will be Dinner. Pizza! Fast and easy. and most importantly I will not have to cook. I’m even going to let my husband do the ordering. Who knows, maybe I can get him to make a home cooked meal instead. I’m going to leave dinner up to him.
Reading Nook:
Got my spot picked out for my reading. Going to lock myself away in my bedroom. I don’t want to lay in bed all day but it looks like that is going to be my best bet if I want bother free reading. While there is daylight I might do some reading out on my balcony as well.
My Reading Plan & Strategy:
I am striving to read four books for the Readathon but I will be happy if I can finish two. I will be doing most of my reading on my kindle since it is also ARC April and I am also participating in that. (I have a Readathon page up top if you want to read more on that. ) Most of my ARCs are e-books. When the battery on my tablet needs to recharge I will be choosing from my Physical TBR. These are books that have been sitting here from the library that I need to read, along with two review copies I received in the mail for review. You never know what I will be in the mood for and I don’t want to get bored during this readathon.
Part of the fun during the readathon is joining in on the challenges and conversation on twitter. I am going to try and keep this to a minimum. I am only going to log on to twitter 3-4 times through the day for 10 minute intervals. Key word here being TRY, Lol. I think it will be best for me to keep my phone in a seperate room while I’m reading so I am not tempted. After three hours of straight reading I’ll reward myself for 10 minutes.
This was the best I could come up with this year. Next year I am thinking BIG!!! I am thinking travel and a stay at a nice bread and breakfast would be an AWESOME way to enjoy this Readathon. A girl can dream! If anything, maybe I can my Husband and Daughter to make plans that weekend of the Readathon so I can have our home to myself with no distractions.
Here is what I plan on reading:
My Physical TBR
My e-book TBR
I’m the same as you – I did a casual readathon last time, and am taking this one a lot more seriously! I don’t think I’ll have the self restraint with Twitter though 😛 Going to a bed and breakfast and doing it on a big scale would be so much fun, but I don’t think I’ll be able to. I’ve seen some other people planning, and it’s insane how much they get read
Hi Victoria! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I didn’t do as well as I hoped. Too many distractions in my home. I probably will not be able to do the bed and breakfast thing either. Just dreaming big. Hoping for a better turn-out in October’s #readathon. How did you do?
You’ve got so many books on your TBR. It’s Hour 20, so I hope you’ve made a dent. I would’ve gone for Bane Chronicles first. I know its the chunkiest, but it’s made up of so many stories, so I’m sure you would’ve flown through it! #TeamEmu for #TeamRogue
Hi Sharlene! Thanks for stopping by. I wish I would have started with The Bane Chronicles first. I was able to read one book and finish half of a second. How did you do?
