Synopsis:
Zack Lightman has spent his life dreaming. Dreaming that the real world could be a little more like the countless science-fiction books, movies, and videogames he’s spent his life consuming. Dreaming that one day, some fantastic, world-altering event will shatter the monotony of his humdrum existence and whisk him off on some grand space-faring adventure.
But hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little escapism, right? After all, Zack tells himself, he knows the difference between fantasy and reality. He knows that here in the real world, aimless teenage gamers with anger issues don’t get chosen to save the universe.
And then he sees the flying saucer.
Even stranger, the alien ship he’s staring at is straight out of the videogame he plays every night, a hugely popular online flight simulator called Armada—in which gamers just happen to be protecting the earth from alien invaders.
No, Zack hasn’t lost his mind. As impossible as it seems, what he’s seeing is all too real. And his skills—as well as those of millions of gamers across the world—are going to be needed to save the earth from what’s about to befall it.
It’s Zack’s chance, at last, to play the hero. But even through the terror and exhilaration, he can’t help thinking back to all those science-fiction stories he grew up with, and wondering: Doesn’t something about this scenario seem a little…familiar?
My Review:
I LOVED this book! So much fun! The idea was brilliant and imaginative. As I was reading this book I would get to certain points in the book where it was so believable. Things that would happen in this book would make you start to think that this could possibly happen in real life.
The author told this story in such a way that it felt real. It made you think that if you looked out your window you just might see a UFO coming down out of the sky.
Yes. I am not ashamed to admit it but I am one of those people who believes in aliens. I know that there is other life out there. It would be ignorant of us to think that in this HUGE universe we are the only living beings. I am one of those people that believes that things that go on on our planet are hidden from us. It just made this novel seem real and believable to me. I could see something like this happen.
This story was told saw well that I felt like I was living it instead of reading it. I felt like if I looked up from my book and looked out the window I was going to see a UFO coming down from the sky. Ok, maybe I am just a little obsessed with aliens and UFO’s. I can’t help it. I am a believer. The writing was so detailed and descriptive that it was impossible not to imagine it.
The characters were easy to relate to, and extremely easy to love. They came to life within the pages. The pages of which I could not turn fast enough. This novel kept me turning and kept me reading.
The story had it all. It gives you all the feels. It will take you on an emotional roller-coaster. One moment you will be laughing, the next moment it will make you sad, then it will make you happy. Be prepared to be up and down, and enjoy every second of it.
The chapters were spaced out very well. They weren’t too long, nor too short. It was easy to stop reading this book and pick it back up and not be lost.
The cover of this book was awesome! I love the hard-back cover too, but this one really draws me into the book.
The story ended in a way that it could possibly be left open for a second book. I have my fingers crossed! I need more!
This movie MUST be made into a movie! I am not one that goes to theaters that often because of the cost. I will usually wait until a movie comes out and rent it for less. This movie would make me run to the theater at warp speed that day it was released. 3-D would be AMAZING and I would so fork over the extra dollars for it. It would make for one of the most enjoyable 3-D experiences EVER!

Girl, you’ve sold me with this review and I don’t read much sci-fi LOL so glad this didn’t disappoint! I will definitely be adding this to my TBR list
Great review!
I don’t usually read too much sci-fi either. Ernest Cline is so worth it though! I hope you enjoy it. Can’t wait to hear what you think. 🙂
I finished Ready Player One a while ago, and have yet to review it, but I did love the concept. Video games and books are two of my favorite things, so combining them is an obvious way into my heart. I’ll have to check this one out when it’s published!
