Published: April 27th, 2016
Synopsis:
She’s guarding a family secret. He’s investigating a murder. Will a second homecoming lead to true love?
Freya Hunter is living the fabulous life. The west-coast girl rakes it in as a fashion model in New York City, but everything changes after she returns home for a quick visit.
The reunion with friends and family in Enchantment Bay is sweet, especially when she hits it off with Nico Valentin, a ruggedly handsome police sergeant. As Nico investigates the death, Freya learns a family secret big enough to turn her world upside down.
Freya is torn between her new life and her hometown — the life she loves vs. the brother who needs her and the sergeant who wants her. When her decision doesn’t go nearly as well as she planned, she wonders if she can help her brother and keep her growing feelings for Nico at bay before they consume her.

My Review:
This story was a cute, heart-felt romance. It had sweet moments, some sad moments. The characters were wonderfully flawed. It made then real. They weren’t perfect and they all had their own demons to deal with in the story. The characters were genuinely loveable. The romance was spaced out at an even pace and the characters had time to get to know one another. It wasn’t rushed. There was constantly something going on in the story to hold my attention. If something wasn’t going on with one character, then it was going on with another. The characters were all original and very easy to remember.
The ending of the book felt a slight bit rushed to me. I would have possibly preferred a certain element of this book to drag over into the next novel and possibly happen then. This was my only issue with the novel. Everything else I absolutely loved.
The world building and descriptive writing were wonderful. It was written so well. I found myself wanting to live in this adorable town and visit the restaurants and other places in this story. The descriptive writing was so on point at times that when they would mention or talk about food I found myself getting rather hungry and craving particular foods. The writing was splendidly vivid!
*Slight Spoiler Starts Here*
There was one scene in the book where Fraya goes to a candle shop with and helps him pick out a manly candle to help him relax at home and make his home smell good. This scene was written so well it made me want to light one of my own candles and make my home smell good and relax, so I did!
*End of Slight Spoiler*
I can’t wait to read the rest of the Hunter series. I fell in love with this family and characters and I look forward to seeing how things work out for the rest of the Hunter family.
If you are a fan of the romance author Carly Phillips then you would definitely enjoy this author’s novels. Her style of writing reminds me of hers. I am a super fan of Carly so I will definitely be picking up the rest of the Bayside Hunter series and all the other books Stacy has written.
