Alphabethon Readathon
I am so excited to introduce to you the Alphabethon Readathon!
I love participating in readathons and reading sprints on Twitter. Readathons and reading sprints are wonderful for helping me with my Goodreads goals and are great for meeting other wonderful bookaholics like you!
I don’t know about you guys, but there are times that I want to participate in a readathon but there just isn’t any going on. I decided that I was going to create my own readathon for those down times. I hope you will all join me and I hope I can help you all knock some books off your tbr and help get your goodreads challenge numbers up.
How does Alphabethon work, you ask?
Here are all the details…
I have enough ideas for this readathon to keep it going for years! I am trying to decide which idea I want to go with first and which ideas you might all be the most interested in. I will give you some of my ideas below. I would love to hear what you all would be the most interested in doing.
-
Once a year I would like to eventually host a month long readathon that would take place in July. I figure this would be the best month since it’s Summer and most people can get a lot of reading done. The way this would work is to read as many books as you can in the month of July and work your way through the alphabet. You would choose a book title to read starting with the letter A, then move on to a book title beginning with B, and so on. Try and make it all the way through the alphabet in one month. I might switch this one up and make it author names A-Z.
-
Another way I would love to do this readathon is a week long readathon where we would read book titles that all begin with A. Then another week during the year, move to books beginning with B….and on and on.
-
Weekend readathons that would take place either 2 or 3 days.
I think you probably get the idea here.
I Need Your Help.
Eventually I want to make this readathon one where I have a whole team so I can bring readers the best readathon possible. I want to form a team of co-hosts to help with reading sprints, prize donations would be awesome as well. I, of course will try and have a prize for each readathon but my finances are very limited. If you would be interested in being a co-host for the readathon or would like to donate a prize for a readathon you can email me directly at bookaholicbanter@gmail.com.
I will be sure to give everyone who helps in any way the recognition that they deserve.
When will the first Alphabethon be?
I am very anxious to get the ball rolling and I really need to get some reading in. We are already 11 days into January and I haven’t finished one single book yet. Yeesh! How many books have you read so far this month?
The first readathon is going to be a two-day weekend readathon. It will take place from 12 a.m. on Saturday the 27th-11:59 p.m. on Sunday the 28th.
For the first readathon we will start with the letter A and you can choose to do this one of three ways:
-
Choose titles to read that all begin with the letter A.
-
Choose to read books by authors whose first name begins with A.
-
Choose to read books by authors whose last name begins with the letter A.
If you really want to you can choose to do a mix of all three. I’m not that difficult. The real point of this readathon is to have fun and eventually work our way through and read the entire alphabet.
So, that’s pretty much all there is too it! I would love to hear some feedback from all you lovely bookaholics. Don’t be afraid let’s have some friendly banter, come together, so I can make this readathon as enjoyable as I can for all of you.
