Alphabethon: Read the Alphabet
I finally have some news for all of you! I am so excited to intoduce to all of you a new readathon called Alphabethon. There are so many readathons out there but us bookaholics can never have enough readathons. There are times throughout the year were I really want to participate in a readathon, or really need reading sprints to motivate me to get more reading done, and sometimes there just isn’t any readathons or sprints going on at the moment on Twitter. I decided that I was going to create my own readathon to hopefully fill in some of those downtimes where there is none going on. Also, it’s just something I have always wanted to be a huge part of.
Let me introduce to you Alphabethon…
Alphabethon is the readathon where you read the alphabet. Nothing is set in stone yet and I am open to ideas. This post is just an introduction to let you know my ideas for the readathon and what it is all about. I am thinking about possibly doing a quick trial run this year but things will not be in full swing until January 2017.
How This is Going To Work…
The idea is to read the entire alphabet during the readathon…or get as far as you possibly can. Choose a book to read that begins with the letter A, Whe you finish that book read a book that starts with the letter B. You get the idea here? Continue on until you read the entire alphabet. If you like, you can start with the letter Z, and make your way backwards to A. If you would rather, you can pick ONE letter in the alphabet and read all books that begin with that letter. ( I can’t wait to see those TBR stacks! )
Alphabethon is going to be a month long readathon – Let’s face it, there are 26 letters in the alphabet so this would be hard to accomplish if we only made it a week. A month makes this more doable.
This readathon is going to take place either once or twice a year.( I haven’t decided that yet, It all depends on how well it does and it all depends on all of you. If you want another one, let’s face it, I’ll probably give you all one. I love to please all my bookaholics out there. I;m even thinking of possibly adding in some week long or weekend readathons where we read books that begin with one letter of the alphabet.
There will be reading sprints on Twitter.
How You Can Get Involved…
I am hoping to make this a very fun and successful readathon. This is where all of you come in. Without all of you this readathon will not thrive. There are ways you can help this readathon be successful and make it through many years. You can be as involved as you like. Here are some ways you can help:
Make sure to use the hashtag #alphabethon on social media.
Mention @alphabethon
Help spread the word of Alphabethon. You can do this through your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
You can become a sprinter-help me host sprints on the Twitter @Alphabethon page.
Become a cheerleader-cheer people on through social media during the readathon.
Become a donator-donate prizes to the readathon as incentive to participants for challenges.
Host a challenge on your blog during the readathon.
If you have any other ideas or things you would like to see just let me know below in the comments. You can shoot me an email at: michelle@bookaholicbanter.com if you would like to be involved, or direct message me on the twitter account. I haven’t set a date yet for the first readathon. We are probably looking at December or January. I want to make sure I have some challenges, sprinters, prizes, etc. all set up and ready to go before the first readathon. I am so excited! I can’t wait to have some reading fun and meet all of you. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below. Love you all! 🙂
